If you go to a place called "_____ Family Restaurant" and you expect stratospheric cuisine, then you're ridiculous. For what it is -- which is a down-home diner/Perkins-esque place -- it's great! It's literally right down the street from our house, so this is an easy stop when we're feeling lazy and don't want to cook. They've got your basic Americana-diner spread: breakfast, lunch, or dinner served any time. I don't think I've ordered anything that I haven't enjoyed. Diner food is never over-the-moon amazing, but it's filling and it satisfies the taste buds. This place does just that. The décor is kitschy but just what you'd expect for a Family Restaurant. If you're planning to go there on a Sunday morning, I would advise you to reconsider. It's practically next door to a church, so the wait times are insane by late morning. So if you're sinners like us, try to go during "church time" to beat the rush. But overall, I like this place! We'll keep going back as long as it stays open!

Until today, I'd have given them four stars: they have pretty good food and they can always handle a group of ten people with small children. Today was Mother's Day and we decided we'd take the whole family (including three mothers) for breakfast. Instead of their usual four-page breakfast menu they had a single page with eight lunch and eight breakfast options . . . not even including pancakes. Their pancakes are one of their best breakfast items. One mother had been looking forward to their wild rice omelette. "Nope, we're too busy on Mother's Day to serve our usual menu." Funny, the last time we were there at 0830 they were much busier. Apparently they had "special" food for the day too instead of just a restricted menu. Two of the mothers had the biscuits and gravy and both came unsplit with just enough gravy to cover--about half as much as there should be. When we walked in, the hostess was incredulous that we hadn't called for a reservation for ten, either. It looked like she was contemplating making us wait, even though they had enough room for a company of Marines. Another member of our party thought they were just making sure they didn't give someone else's table away. In any event, it didn't make me feel cherished. Usually, I'd describe it as a Perkins if it was actually owned by a local person who ate there regularly. Apparently, whoever he is, he or she eats someplace else on Mother's Day.

Breakfast here is the bomb! I've been coming to Matthew's off and on for approx 10-12 years now, and it's mostly always enjoyable. Food definitely has that rural/suburban complex going, so that's a plus. As others mentioned, the omelets are delicious and full to the max. My bro always gets them and even claims one of their mainstays (forget the exact name) to be the best he's ever had. I personally love the french toast (done slightly different here) and the always-crispy bacon. Dinner is good too, and the options are all classic American diner. Interior design is average and seats aren't too comfortable, but not terrible. I'm taller so I may be biased. Perkins, Denny's, etc etc are all fine, but I always prefer the independent restaurants, and Matthew's is a good example of that.

I've been here twice for breakfast now and both times it's been very good. I think I had a ham and cheese omelet the first time and the Country Club omelet the second time. My only complaint is that it would be nice to order off the seniors menu when a HUGE plate of food is going to be too much. Outside of throwing away, not to mention paying for, food that I knew I couldn't finish, everything tastes homemade and very fresh.

We love Matthew's because it's close to home, clean, friendly, and we always get consistently good food. There's not many non chain places around here so I love it for that reason too.

Been coming to Matthew's for breakfasts for years. It's a suburban neighborhood gem. Great menu choices. (Recently I got the Monster omelet: perfectly cooked, and I wasn't hungry 'til dinner.) Staff is always helpful and friendly. Interior is spotless and comfortable. A MUCH better option than a Perkins or Denny's, IMHO.

We go here for breakfast often. Their omelets are good and my husband loves the lumberjack. He likes this place more than I do but I don't mind going. Their toast is good but I wish they gave more jam. I always ask for extra. Sometimes they give it to me, sometimes they don't. Why so stingey?

This is a nice family owned restaurant. Always had good food here, only breakfast though. Lumberjack is awesome, same for eggs Benedict. The monster omelet is ginormous and filling. Very good! Like coming here, good waitstaff. Give it a try. It's in between a 3 & 4 star.

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon just 15 minutes before they were supposed to close. We were still seated, and had our food in less than 10 minutes--breakfast for my husband, and a great bacon avocado wrap for me. Simple food, done well, for a reasonable price. The decor leaves something to be desired--the restaurant reminded me of a 1980s Denny's, and our waitress looked like she had just walked out of the Barbie Dream house. Overall though, good where it counts!

Went around dinner time and had the worst food possible, even the kids would not eat what they ordered. First plate of food came out cold, which was Fettuccine. Would not go back a second time.

Wow! The lumberjack is awesome (hash browns sausage hot peppers with eggs). Friendly people. Yummy pie. Prices are quite reasonable. I eat here for breakfast or dinner.

Great food. Super fast at making breakfast items. Last time, meal took 3 minutes to come out - and on a Sunday morning.
